Save the Bees T Shirts

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

J. Matson Heininger, from Eastport Michigan (not too far from where our candles are made) contacted us a few weeks ago. It turns out there is another Northern-Michigan based business that is actively involved in the honeybee crisis!

His company, Save The Bees Shirts, helps to create awareness about Colony Collapse Disorder (believed by many to be the main cause of the dissapearance of honeybee populations nationwide) by selling cleverly designed T-shirts, hats, vests, and other accessories through his website.

His T-shirts are made of 100% cotton and suport environmentally ‘green’ practices. 10% of sales go directly to bee research and scholarship grants. Help support another blossoming Michigan business and more importantly the plight of the honeybee!

The Extremes of Candle Land

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Up here in candleland the weather extremes we face are, well, extreme. Our average high in January was 17.3 degrees, a hefty 4.1 degrees above the all time record set in 1994. So far we’ve had 133 inches of snow, or eleven feet and one inch. Here’s a couple of shots from a day or two ago and one from last summer (we’re guessing you can figure out which one is summer).

All of this makes for great candle making and burning weather. So light up your winter a bit with the warmest softest coolest glow known to women and men.

We’ll take feedback anyway we can get it even through the snail mail!! So write, email, or comment below how much we all love that glow.
