Exciting Updates!

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Some particularly exciting news from black and light®! I spoke with an employee at black and light® this morning and they filled me in on some of the wonderful things that are happening for the company in the coming weeks and months.

In early July, Holly Eve and black and light ® will be featured in the ‘Fabulous Finds’ section of the Palm Beach Post.  I’ve had a chance to read a draft of the article; it gives the company an absolutely dazzling review. The article, written by Jennifer Lubner, manager of the Boutique at Robb & Stucky in Palm Beach Gardens, could not be more complimentary.  She discusses not only the marvelous features of Holly Eve’s candles, but also the tremendous amount of effort that she and the people at black and light ® make to give back to the community and the environment. There will be a link to the article once it is published that can be accessed from the blog.

Holly Eve will also be the featured speaker at an upcoming Gold Coast Women’s Club monthly luncheon at the Boca Raton Country club. Anyone who has the chance to listen to Holly speak will be enlightened by her simple brilliance and warmed by her wonderful personality and inner glow. Those who have the opportunity to hear Holly speak on her business philosophy and company are truly lucky! This is a wonderful opportunity for both Holly Eve and the Gold Coast Women’s Club.

In addition to the exciting news from Florida, Holly Eve is making herself and her company known all the way across country. In October she will be featured at the Online Market World annual conference as the keynote speaker at one of their luncheons. This endeavor will take her to San Francisco, California. It looks like Holly Eve and black and light ® are well on their way to being a nationally known wonder. In related news, stay tuned for a podcast with Holly Eve done by Lisa Morgan, vice president of Online Market World. It will be posted to the blog as soon as it becomes available.

That’s news for now! The people at black and light ® are geared up for all of the fantastic happenings with the company, and I look forward to sharing any new developments with you. Stay tuned for more stories from black and light ® next week. Until then, may the ‘glow’ be with you!

Saving the World, One Candle at a Time

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Saving the world, one candle at a time. black and light ® is a company that not only makes beautiful, glowing candles, but a company that has been instilled with an environmentally friendly and giving spirit ever since it’s inception. black and light ® candles and the people that help create them radiate not just a warm glow, but also goodness, caring, and an emphasis on giving back to the community. I recently discovered the many ways in which black and light ® is contributing to our planet; in a sense, ’saving the world’ with every candle that is made, packaged and purchased. The candle itself is environmentally friendly, the company gives back each and every day, and there always seems to be new ideas of how the people at black and light ® can contribute to the world around them. This is something, being the candle lover I am, I find comforting every time I light my black and light ® candles.

A couple months ago I had a great idea. Instead of reading by my lamp at night or in the early morning, I would light a candle, and turn off the lamp. As I’ve mentioned before, the glow from a black and light ® candle is so powerful, just one can light up an entire room! By lighting a candle, and turning off a lamp, I know I am saving energy and contributing to an environmentally friendly cause. And not only can I save energy by lighting a candle and turning off a lamp, I know every time I buy a candle from black and light ®, I am buying a product that takes the environment into consideration. The wick is 100% cotton, lead free, and burns for more hours than I have experienced with any other candle.

The packaging is a marvel as well it’s completely reusable! I’ve reused mine several times to give gifts and to store treasures. As an environmentally conscious person, all of these aspects make me even more excited to every time I light a black and light ® candle. The candles at black and light ® are more than ‘just candles.’ They are unique in their glow and in the love for our planet that is apart of that glow.

Ever since the early days, black and light ® has been in search of a philanthropic project that it could donate to as a key part of the company. Holly Eve and the people at black and light ® have already started a number of wonderful projects that make me as a lover of these candles extremely proud! They have contacted charitable organizations such as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital with the desire to donate the proceeds from Holly’s ‘hope’ candles to the hospital. black and light ®. also employs mentally and physically challenged adults at the GTI company in Traverse City, Michigan, who are in charge of assembling all of the packaging for black and light ®. I can say from experience that they do an absolutely wonderful job!

But the biggest project yet, which was just confirmed a few days ago is black and light’s ® partnership with the ‘Save the Honeybees’ campaign headed up by The University of California at Davis. In order to stop the drastic drop in hive numbers across the United States, University of California at Davis is conducting research that is intrinsic to the restoration of the honeybees in the United States. Holly Eve designed her ‘Bees’ candle back in November of 2007 with the ‘Save the Honeybees’ campaign in mind, hoping that the proceeds from her candles would help contribute to the research efforts at UC Davis. Now that the partnership is official, black and light ®. can contribute to yet another part of our wonderful planet. More information can be found about UC Davis contribution to saving the honey bees on their website: http://entomology.ucdavis.edu/dept/beebio.cfm. There will be more info on black and light’s ® contributions to the ‘Save the Honeybees’ campaign in the coming days!

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more news on black and light ® new products and ideas. Don’t forget to light a candle, share the glow and even help save planet with black and light ® candles!
